Everything the ghost filter does, after the fact

Two ways in, one creepy ghost that stays right behind you.

Start from one photo

Any clear photo of one adult facing the camera. The AI turns it into an 8-second vertical video: you smile at the camera while the ghost rises over your shoulder.

Or bring your own clip

Upload a video of up to 10 seconds. The ghost is added behind the person, and the rest of the clip stays exactly as you filmed it.

A ghost that follows you

Like the live TikTok filter, she stays right behind the main person: when they lean, turn or walk, she moves with them.

Sound included

Photo videos come with an eerie hum and a jump-scare sting. Clips keep their own sound, screams included.

Made for TikTok and Reels

Vertical 9:16 at 720p (landscape photos come out 16:9). Download it, or share it to TikTok in one tap on your phone.

Pay per video, no subscription

5 credits for a photo video, 10 for a clip. Packs start at $4.99, credits never expire, and a failed video gives its credits back.

What is the ghost prank filter?

The ghost prank filter is a TikTok camera effect that went viral in October 2026: a tall grey ghost with long grey hair, huge white eyes and a wide grin appears behind whoever is on the front camera, and stays behind them as they move. People prop the phone on the bathroom sink, call someone in, and film the moment they spot the ghost on screen. In this clip from @maeveplusryan, her boyfriend gets the scare.

From one photo to an 8-second scare

Pick a photo where one person faces the camera with a bit of room behind them. The AI keeps the face, the clothes and the room, animates the photo as if it were filmed on the front camera, and brings the ghost up over the shoulder: first her hair, then one white eye, then her grin right next to the cheek. A low hum builds and a horror sting hits near the end. It costs 5 credits.

Add the ghost to a video you already filmed

Missed the filter while filming? Upload the clip, up to 10 seconds (longer videos are cut to the first 10). The AI adds the ghost behind the main person and keeps her there as they move, while everything else in the clip, sound included, stays as it was. Show it to your friend afterwards and watch them check behind their back. It costs 10 credits.

FAQ

Ghost prank filter FAQ

Quick answers about the ghost video, credits and what you can upload.

Is this the official TikTok ghost filter?

No. Ghost Prank is an independent site and isn't affiliated with TikTok or CapCut. The live filter only works while you film in the TikTok app; here AI adds a similar ghost to a photo or a clip you already have, on any phone or computer.

Should I upload a photo or a video?

A photo is the quick, cheaper option: 5 credits for an 8-second video where the person smiles at the camera while the ghost rises behind them. A video is for a moment you already filmed, like someone washing their hands at the sink: the ghost is added behind them, the clip keeps its sound, and it costs 10 credits.

Does the ghost follow the person?

Yes, that's what both modes ask the AI for: she stays close behind the main person and moves when they move. In a clip she follows the real movement; in a photo video she moves with the animated photo. AI results vary from one video to the next, so if one comes out wrong, contact support.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. New accounts get 4 free credits, and the daily check-in adds 1 more on day one, which is exactly one photo video. Check in on the following days for more (1, 1, 1 and 2 credits), or invite friends: +1 credit for each signup and +10 when they buy.

Which photos and clips work best?

One adult facing the camera, face and shoulders visible, in normal light, with some room behind them. A selfie at the bathroom sink is the classic look of the trend. Avoid group shots, very dark photos and sunglasses. In clips, keep the person in frame and the camera fairly steady.

How long are the videos, and how long do they take?

A photo video is 8 seconds, vertical 9:16 at 720p (16:9 for landscape photos). A clip comes back the same length as your upload, up to 10 seconds, at 720p. Most videos are ready within a few minutes, and you can leave the page and come back for it.

Is there a watermark on the video?

No. We don't add any watermark or logo to your video. When you post it, turn on TikTok's "AI-generated content" label, since the ghost was made with AI.

Can I use it to prank my kids?

No. On TikTok the filter is often used on small children, and parents and therapists have criticised it for frightening them. Here every photo and clip must show adults, 18 or older, who are fine with being pranked. Don't upload photos of children, celebrities or other public figures.

What happens to my photos and videos?

They're stored in our cloud storage and sent to our AI video provider only to make your video. We don't publish them or use them for anything else. Your finished videos stay in your account so you can download them later. Details are in our privacy policy.

What if a video fails?

If a render fails, we retry it once automatically at no cost. If it still fails, the credits go straight back to your balance. Contact support with the reference number shown and we'll take a look.

How do I post it on TikTok?

On your phone, tap Share to TikTok; on a computer, download the video and upload it. We copy a caption for you. Turn on TikTok's "AI-generated content" label before posting, since the ghost was made with AI.

Who's standing behind you?

Upload a photo or a clip and get your ghost prank video in a few minutes. Adults only, no app needed.
